Consumer Protection

The External link opens in new tab or windowConsumer Protection Act defines consumer rights and business obligations. If you're in a dispute over goods or services sold, you have several options such as mediation, arbitration, or small claims court. Instead of immediately choosing to initiate a court proceeding, start with negotiation or mediation, as they may be more efficient. There are also other alternatives to consider before entering a costly or lengthy legal process. I've assisted many clients in obtaining timely and fair solutions through negotiations and helping with complaints to watchdogs and regulators*. If you're dealing with a dispute about goods or services, contact me today to explore your options.

*I do not offer services related to complaints made to or about Legal Aid Ontario, Law Society of Ontario or Ontario College of Teachers.

Debt Collection

Finding it tough to recover a debt? I assist in writing demand letters and act as a bridge between you and your client, ensuring stress-free debt collection.

About Pricing

Debt collection services are offered on a contingency fee basis. You don't pay unless you recover funds.* The table below outlines the percentage of fees based on each case's complexity. The complexity of the matter often changes as the case progresses and more factors are considered. The collections process is completely transparent. I will collaborate closely with your company to establish a timeline for the expected date of collection and, with weekly check-ins, we will monitor complexity to ensure we adapt to new developments efficiently. Should negotiations be unsuccessful, I will refer you to a legal professional to assist with the court process.

Matter Complexity

Fee

(% of collected amount)

Routine debt (no history of dispute or evasion)15%
Moderate complexity (some dispute or limited contact)20%
High complexity (non-compliance, evasion)25%

*Disbursement and document drafting fees may apply upfront.

Notary & Commissioning Services

Accessible, Affordable, and Local Notary Services: Serving Scarborough’s Golden Mile, Oakridge & The Beaches

I am a Notary Public and Commissioner for Taking Affidavits. I offer professional notary signing and commissioning. With a commitment to accuracy and confidentiality, I handle all documents with meticulous care. My clients trust me to manage their documentation needs efficiently, knowing their affairs are in capable hands.

I offer mobile and in-person notary services as well as remote* commissioning services. Whether you need me to come to you, prefer to come to me or have the option to handle your needs virtually, I have flexibility to accommodate. I am dedicated to providing efficient and reliable service for all your documentation needs.

*About "remote" notary services: Please be diligent when choosing your notary services. Remote notary services are not yet available in Ontario. As such, documents that have been notarized remotely may be not be accepted by provincial authorities and run the risk of being invalidated. The Notaries Act does not currently accommodate remote notarization. Section 3 of the Act provides that "if the regulations made under this Act so provide and the conditions set out in the regulations are met, a notary public may, in accordance with the regulations, exercise his or her powers without being in the person’s physical presence". [emphasis added].

Simply put, the Act  has a provision that allows the government to make a regulation allowing remote notary services. However no regulation has been made to date. To protect the validity of your documents, please be aware that, in Ontario, in-person notary services are currently mandatory.
